What? No Posts?

Guess it's up to me tonight huh? I called Timmy over here to show him your bubbles Ruth. He sat on my lap and popped 5 fresh pages full. He said, "Mom if you get board in the mornings, you can come out here and do this"

I definitely don't like what I'm hearing outside. The wind is fierce and blowing with a vengence. What bothers me is two BIG, TALL trees at the back corner of the house, one is hanging over the gerage and tall enough to cover the whole house if it let loose off of the rock it's sitting on. Angels stand guard. Alexander,Raymuth,Pete Leftus and Curley, we sure could use you tonight. Lord, please dispatch your finest, over here to our house for the duration of the storm. THANK YOU. You know what? Since I started those last few lines, the wind has died down to where I can't even hear it blow now. Hallelujah, Praise The Lord, Thank-You Jesus!

Timmy and I spent the day in the woods. We walked down the dry creek bed looking at rocks, moss, little water pools, buck-eyes, acorns, tree stands, uprooted trees, bleached out deer bones and every other thing out there to explore. Timmy balanced on fallen trees, hung upside down like a sloth on another, moved rocks to allow trickeling water to meander freely on it's course and generally enjoyed his walk in the woods. We made a trip back to the house to get my camera and went farther the second time. Got back at 4:30 and we were so tired that we sat down on the floor to rest and watched a little of an old black and white movie about a submerine maneuvering through a mine field in Tokyo Bay. Not generally what he'd watch but he was looking for John Wayne in it.

I had no idea! It's 1:15 am and neither of my guyes are in bed. Timmy just got out of the shower and Kenny is doen stairs on the couch sleeping I suppose. He layed down on the couch earlier to watch something and fell asleep. I sent Timmy down stairs because the wind was so bad, Kenny came up and checked the weather on the computer then went back down and Timmy came back up to shower. He's now watching Charlotte's Web 2. I'll get off of here and go see what's up. Ahh, now I get it. I can hear the TV down stairs now that the frigerator stopped running. Kenny's watching that submerine movie that was on earlier today.

That wind is roaring again and the house is creaking, no it's not. That's Alexander, Raymouth, Pete, Leftus and Curley walking around up there on the roof, keeping a vigilant watch. Thank-you Lord. I can sleep better now, knowing I don't have to worry.

Kenny just came upstairs, said he'd been snoozing away. Good thing, because he's on call and this is good call-out weather.

If I've bored anyone, just tell me not to be so windy, and that I talk to much. I'll shut-up and let someone else do the talking now. Good Night.

Springtime?

Springtime. That's Timmy's big question, every day, several times a day. "Mom, is it springtime yet?" I reply, "No not yet." He asks, "But when will it be springtime?" I say, "Oh, in about 8 weeks." He questions, "How long's 8 weeks?" I say, "When it's warm enough to go outside without your coat." "But is that very long?" "It is to you, why?" "Because I want the frogs to hurry up and come out."

He begged me to go into the woods with him today. I told him he could go out there in the woods where I could see him from the kitchen window. He nearly cried. He wanted me to go with him out back, down to the gully. He took his pop gun to protect us and the pruning clippers to cut me a trail so the briers and sticks wouldn't catch my cloths and hair he said. He found a little pool of water and played at undamming it for a long time while I carried rocks. Last spring I came across some dandy rocks down in the gully. I started gathering them into piles but had no way to haul them up here. Besides, it was later in the spring and it was hot, heavy work and the ticks started coming out so I abandoned ship. While he played, I carried one pile up the hill a further piece to be easier to pick up if I ever get a way to haul them. Had to get back and start supper. Got waylayed in the yard messing around the flower beds and guess what? The bleeding hearts are up and coming on through the leaves, also the surprise lillies. The daffodiles are budding too.

We ended up with 3 cakes on Valentines day. I made Kenny a fresh apple cake, he brought me a icecream cake from the Dairy Queen and the neighbor made a Red Velvet cake for Timmy. I put a red and white lace table cloth on the table, two candle holders Sarah had given me some years ago, and all the red votive holders I could find, about 10, set the three cakes on one end of the table, lit the candles and brought out the leftovers. Set Kenny's 2 cards by his plate, put Timmy's under his and set a Bob The Builder bag by Timmy's plate with a few things from the dollar store in it. Never saw him eat so fast. I wouldn't let him open it till he ate his supper.

After supper we drove over to Grantsburg to take Gerald a parts catalog. I took he and Barb a 2 layer freshapple cake with cream cheese iceing and covered with chopped walnuts. Took it in my glass , footed, covered cake plate and they loved it. They were just finishing supper and had 4 grandkids there. It was a hit.

It's after 2:00 so I'm gonna slip on out of here and down the hall. Sleep Tight.

Yes, Dear Mommie Ruth, you're a good teacher, three cheers for you! Now, please come back, you're a better teacher than I am a retainer. You didn't leave me a note on how to save a picture to PC. I did this one the other day but it's very, very tiny and I've slept since than. It's entirely [what happened here] to late to be sitting here at 2:50 am so that's all for now.

Roses Are Red, Violets........

There, Hows that? It worked Ruth, I just followed your note. I think I need a refresher course on adding pictures to my file though.

Reflecting on your comments about being puny, maybe it was just your nature to be 'skinny' like Sarah Beth, guess she comes by it honestly. That 'puny' part may have been Elaine's idea, they thought a person had to have some 'substance' on them to be healthy. Any way, that discription don't fit you any more, no pun intended.

I don't remember being to young to go to school and waiting at home for Sharon or Rhoda to come home. Maybe that's because I had Rachel and Ruth to play with. I well remember being in the first grade at Poge, living at the trailer park, and WALKING HOME ALONE at lunch time to eat. That shure wouldn't be allowed by any school now days, I wouldn't think.
A few years later, I remember a student living next door to Graysbranch school and they wern't allowed to walk home for lunch. Back to walking home, It didn't bother me a bit, but it wouldn't be a smart thing today for a first grader to do. To this day, I still love Campbells tomato soup, that's what I remember eating when I got home. Hot, red soup with little oyster crackers in it. Don't remember eating anything else or Sharon or Rhoda walking with me. I know one time I forgot to take off my green and white checked apron that Grandma gave me. I had left the trailer but was still inside the park when I realized, to my horror, I was still wearing that
'thing.!' I was so embarrassed but didn't have time to run it back home before the school bell rang. I took it off and stuffed it in the mail box which was at the top of the hill, not down at the trailer, and ran on to school. Funny how first graders can be so embarrassed over some of the silliest things. Wonder what the mailman thought when he opened the box?

That's enough for tonight, it's 1:10 and Timmy is whimpering in his sleep, better check on him.

Cha-Ching!!!!!!

Hey folks, that was a shot in the dark, now what? I've slept some since Ruth was here to show me how to do this. All my other try's failed, I tried to put a little angel on a couple times but she flew away. Think I'll leave well enough alone before this one goes poof. It's 2:oo am, I've felt chilled and ackey all day so I'm saying Good Night.

Tuesday, February 07, 2006

Hey Folks, I told you Aunt Woosy was out there and you didn't believe me. She snuck in the back door the other day, somehow made her way up the stairs and made a bee line for the computer. Her long bony finger prints were found All OVER the keys, the screen and the printer. It was all locked up for days and I couldn't do a thing with it. She's a trouble maker, let me tell ya. The printer still don't want to work at first try without punching it twice. Kenny sat down here, wipped off her dirty finger prints, jimmy'd a few keys, rearanged some jargen, spit over his shoulder twice, hopped 3 steps on one leg, switched around the shoes on his feet and with a POOOF and a bang, guess what? Here I am again. WOW! If anyone sees Aunt Woosy again, Snuff out her light, lock her up, goodness, DO SOMETHING WITH HER. WE JUST CAN'T HAVE HER HANGING AROUND HERE ANYMORE.

I'll cool my feathers now and see if this will post. Good night. It's 12:30, still early but my guys just went to bed so guess I'll head down the hall too.

Gathering Sand

Happy Valentines Day. If this picture posts, it's not the one I wanted for today, I can't get it to print. Anyway, my plan was to have a good Valentine poem or short story to share with you. I couldn't find what I wanted so I'll just share one I wrote for Kenny some years back.

Kenny,
You asked if I missed you--
The answer is no
Well....in the evenings
When the sun is low.

Early in the mornings
When the mockingbird sings
His song so sweetly
On golden wings.

Late in the evenings
Mid the sunsets glow
When the barnswallows fly
To and frow.

In the cool of the night
When all is still
When I hear the call
Of the whippoorwill

In the heat of the day
When the butterflies sail
When the night is lit
Bythe firefly's tail

When the new mown hay
Lies still on the ground
When the sweetcorns tassel
Begin to turn brown

When the sun is setting
And the sky's ablaze
With orange and pink
And a hint of blue haze

When the full moons hung
By a silverly thread
And the twinkling stars
Nod their heads

When the mist and fog
Settle in with the dew
My thoughts have been
All day with you

You ask if I miss you
No, not a bit
Well....only when I breath
And I can't seem to quit

As long as there's breath
In this soul of mine
I'll love you and need you
Till the end of time

Till the wonders of nature
Cease to exist
I miss you and need you
And count myself blessed.

BAKING DAY

Made three 'Fresh Apple Cakes' today and it took all day. My live long day was spent in the kitchen. I took the first cake out of the oven to soon so it didn't get done in the middle. First one here gets it, it's iced and ready to go, any body hungry for good moist cake? This cake recipe is one of the best I've eaten. The second one is OK, ready for the desert auction. The third one is Pappa Bears, he was glad I didn't forget him. He said, "You mean you made one for me too?"

Timmy wants a story so I'll drop off for now. Good night.

MOMMY DEAREST

Hey Mom, Ruth is planning on coming over tomarrow, come on over with her if you want to. We'll have Italian sausage with sauted onions and green peppers wrapped in a soft taco wrap and corn dogs for the kids. Deal? deal.

Gotta get my $%^&*(#@! in gear , get up and make an apple cake for a desert auction at church for the youth group. May make cinnamon rolls too, maybe.

Timmy has a fever and is cold, laying on the couch,he just ate a boul of frozen blueberries. He feels OK though. Called Kenny at work to bring some more Sambucal. He's been taking a spoonfull every day. He slept on the bench at church Sunday night and got all sweaty then went outside. That was a no no.

Gotta get up an think about supper too. Talk to ya later. The blueberry coffee cake is not too shabby today, come have a cup of coffee with it and me, yes?

Thanks Ruth

I should have known not to start looking through the clip art at midnight. It's 1;15 AM and I only saw a fraction of it , some beautiful pictures. I fell asleep twice and nearly wiped out the keyboard.

Made a blueberry sour cream coffee cake today. It never did get solid in the middle and didn't raise enough, heavy and wet in the midle, other than that it wasen't bad. The receipe said to put a pint of fresh or frozen berries on the top then bake. I did, but it didn't, bake, that is. It wasen't too bad, Kenny didn't like it though, guess I'll have to eat it, wouldn't want it to go to WAIST, mine, that is. Ended up making MONSTER COOKIES for mercy's care package. Didn't know if she'd like the fudge. Afterwards, I wish I'd have sent her some, she does love the trail bars. Timmy or Kenny don't like the fudge so guess I'm stuck with two batches of that too. Anybody want some? Come on over and get it. It's 1:30 now, I simply must get my beauty [ha] sleep

PS. Sharon, I'm on edge now, I didn't know Dear Ol Aunt Woosy had a sister, let alone by the name of Wiffy. I'm scared to go to my dark bedroom now. Before we get through, we'll discover she has a couple brothers named Wimpy, Wikky, Willy, Winny, Wippy, Witty and Wizzy. Wizzy,? that's witty, or is it Wimpy? I dunno, or don't care either, I just wanna go to beddy.ZZZZZZZZZZZ

OK THE BEAR GETS IT

OK Sharon, it's your move, the Bear's in trouble, you haven't said a peep in days, what gives? Ole Aunt Woosy snuck up from behind and gotcha? Hey, I don't usually have anything earthshaking to say either, but when I sit down here on my trusty chair, something ends up on the screen. May not be news worthy but it's out there.

Maybe if you sat down to post at 3:00 AM like it is now, you might could think clearly 'cause your house would be quiet. Seems to be when I think the best, in the wee hours of the morning. Kenny went back in to work tonight at 10:30 so I did some laundry, cleaned the kitchen then proceeded to try out Mom's fudge receipe. I made one batch in my Kitchen Aid and it was crumbly so I melted some dark chocolate and addad it last then mixed it in. It was warm an soft from the hot chocolate, I dumped it in a 9x9glass dish and pressed it down with plastic wrap and a wide spatchula. I made another batch a little different. I put the peanutbutter in the mixer, added the hot melted chocolate [ 2 dark chocolate bars ] and mixed the two together. I then added vanilla, honey, then the powdered milk and nuts. That batch ended up looking more like fudge than the first. Haven't tasted them yet, they are in the fridge till morning. I'll pick the best one for the care package at church tomarrow. We send a monthly box to a girl in Bible collage in Pa. I've sent the home made trail mix bars twice and she loves them. She's always on the go and don't have time to stop and eat. I covered an empty Bible box with pretty wrapping paper, lined it with 2 colors of contrasting tissue paper, packed it with individually wrapped bars then folded over the tissue and put the lid on. Timmy had to draw a dinosaur for her and placed it in the box before I put on the lid. Anyway, I need to think of a pretty way to wrap the fudge tomarrow.

Went to Ruth's shop today and took some chairs, roll of fence wire and odds and ends. Stopped at Moms but they wern't home, boo hoo.

It's 2:30 now, not 3:00, Kenny's not home yet but think I'll retire now. Ut Oh, he just pulled in, Good night.

Whatch Doin?

Ruth, where ya been all day anyway? Did Ole Aunt Woosy Get cha? Rang your phones all mornin , Ole Aunt Woosy musta had your phones disconnected. It's a good thing you got a cell phone, but I didn't remember the number.

Anyway, do you want 4 kitchen chairs that go with the little table we set up for Christmas dinner? They are metel chairs with leather padded seats and backs. They are worn but could get a few dollars from the at the shop. Let me know, maybe could bring them in the morning.

Went to Sams tonight then ate at Captain Dee's. I feel like a stuffed Christmas turkey. I only wanted a fish sandwich but got over ruled. Ended up with a 10 piece dinner with hush puppies[and I'm the only one who likes them] slaw and a mountain of fries, and root beer. Had to stuff to eat all the fish, it's not very good warmed over the next day.

Kenny came home tonight with a whole bushel of yellow apples, need some help eating them. I read to him the other day about the 'Three apple a day Plan' and said that I wanted some apples. Well, I got some. Read how all these people lost a bunch of weight and inches by eating three apples a day, one, thirty minutes before each meal. Exercise and a diet plan was a part of it but I thought the apple part sounded good and easy. It don't help any though when you eat out.

Timmy helped me take a leaf out of the big table today. Kenny walked in and said,"Wow, what happened to this room?" It looks more spacious now. I like the little table in front of the china cabnet, the one we brought up for more seating for our Christmas dinner and that's the one we've been using ever since. It 's right under the light and I can sit at supper and look at the nice lighted china cabnet and it's pretties. Thank you Lord, never thought I'd have such a nice piece, let alone a place for my pretties. Driving home tonight, Kenny mentioned how nice it is to finally have a good vehicle to drive. We got to talking about the ones we had to ride in growing up. Like.....Holes in the floor so that when we drove through the creek we had to pick up our feet to keep them from getting wet, like the blankets we had to carry with us to wrap up in to keep from freezing and when it rained we had to scoot closer towards the middle to keep from getting wet, remember those days? I guess it all started when I said that it was nice to be able to take our coats off in the vehicle and still stay warm. I then said "Thank -you Lord for all your blessings," and he said
"AMEN."

When we left Ruths house, we turned right at the end of her drive and went towards Taswell. Timmy was saying, " I've been this way before. Hey
daddy, you have to see this water up this road. You gotta see it. There's fish in there, they are huge, they're hew-normis, there double big bass,I'm telling ya! Hey Dad, can we fish, see, see that water?" Poor kid, You'd think he was born with a fishing pole in his hand, OUCH!!! At church, at least twice, when they ask if anyone has prayer requests, he's raised his hand real high and Pastor says, "Yes Timmy?" His reply was as follows, loudly, "Uh, please pray for my dad that he'd take me fishin more often, and that my dog would stay home."
Out of the mouths of babes.

The Gost Of Christmas Past

Help RUth, I lost another one to Dy Teck! I posted then Hit 'post', instead it went to 'save as draft' on it's own and I never could find it. That was last night, and a good one to. It's not on there today.
If it makes yall feel any better, we took the tree down tonight. Who was that ya say, Aunt Woosy? I saw here tonight, at least I think it was her. I kept seeing a misty shadow fadeing in and out behind the tree. A few bulbs dissapeared and the lights went out, smelled pine tar really bad, the angel lost her halo but other than that, after the last branch was placed in the box, there was a loud whooshing sound, a big bang and that was it. When we picked up the red velvet tree skirt, there was some odd looking dust, a old worn hair pin and a crumpeled up note that read, "Only by the skin of your teeth, Oh so close. And here I was looking so forward to having company this year. So sad, Aunt Woosy.

POST SCRIPT

Hey Dear Hearts, Wish I could have stayed longer, maybe next time. OH, WHAT DID I JUST DO? Sharon WE MISSED YOU! Don't feel bad though, we ate a plate or two for you, desert too, with icecream to boot! Hope you enjoyed it, we did. Left Ruth's house, drove to Grantsburg and stopped to see Kenny's brother Gerald and wife Barb. We stayed and visited for over three hours. Kenny said he hasen't talked to Gerald like that for YEARS. We've never stopped to visit before, first time I've been in there house. That was good. We needed to visit. Only see each other in Wal-mart or some place like that. We keep saying we need to get together but it never has happened before. He just today plowed his garden eith his work horses. Barb said she and I need to get together and go to some Amish store that has EVERYTHING. Told her I'd like that. Well gotta go, it's 2:35 and I won't be able to keep my eyes open in Sunday school, oh how utterly miserable

Help!

It's 11:15, Kenny went back to work for a few hours, Timmy's eating popcorn, watching The Lone Ranger, and I'm sitting here trying to put off taking down the Christmas tree, guess I need a swift kick, or some help. Took Timmy up the road to get a haircut today, he tolerated it and when he got out of the chair he shook like a dog. Said he didn't want to go back there, said she pulled his hair with the comb.
Got my coo coo clock out, It's been packed away for about 8 years. I didn't want little hands to pull the chains and break it so I kept it boxed up. Think I'll get up and hang it before Hubby gets home. Timmy helped me move the china cabnet down a little for an itty bitty wall space to hang it. I hope he's old enough now to not bother it, cross my fingers.

Smile

THAT SPECIAL SMILE

Her lips curled up,
Her lashes drooped
Her head was stately bent.

Her glance demure,
she gazed at me;
I wondered what she meant.

With heart-a-thump
and interest high,
I pondered at her guile.

Unanswered still
my question is:
What made that llama smile?

E.M. Mays

Good Morning,
Just thought I,d start my day a little different and give you a jumpstart. I usually do this late at night But right now the early morning sun is shining brightly in the window on the computer and feels toasty warm on my shoulder. It's 25 degrees outside, looks are deceiving.
Timmy is still sleeping so the house is quiet, that's my time to think. I sat down at the table after Pappa Bear left, pulled out a stack of recipes and found the poem above on a page from a FARM AND RANCH magazine. If I could, I'd print the picture that goes with it, help Ruth. The other side of the page has recipes on it from cooks around the country. The SCALLOPED POTATOES look good, think I,ll make them for supper. What else could I have? My guys don't like peas, greenbeans, rice, etc. I,ve had corn every day for a week. To begin with, I was looking for my cornmeal pancake recipe, found it and sounds good. I've never made them before but Sarah and Mom have and I hear they are delicious.
Wow, the sun is revealing, it showes me all the dust on the computer cabnet. I'd never sat here in the morning sun before but it's nice, think I'll do it again.
Baby Bear just got up, [9:15] and I got over ruled on the cornmeal pancakes. He informes me he wants chocolate pancakes. He said, "Iknow how to make them. You just make the usual and while they are cooking you drop those chocolate things in them."
I hear a barge on the river, chugging up stream. When it's foggy we can hear their fog horns blow. The other day there were three barges churning up river, one right in the wake of the one ahead of it, manuvering the horse shoe bend.
Well I'm hearing "Mom, the pancakes, did you forget? I got the cord out for you so you wouldn'd have to , I thought it would be to hard for you."
GOOD DAY

Ps.....Good, glad to hear you can make a little gift. Rachel, do you have time? We might need a couple extra for guests, such as Sarah's friend. She is Spanish.
Rachel, how about Daniell, is she crafty too?

No, we havent set a date, need time for our craft and nicer weather.
Just had a thought. Valentines day is coming up, do we want it around
Valentines day or is that to close to Ruth's dinner?
Maybe wait till it's warmer and we have our planning and ideas together?
I need some input, I've never had a tea party before.

Back to Valentines. Could we all come up with a love letter a poem on love, thoughts about love, original or something from the archives of time, to post on our blog on Valentines day? Just something fun to do and to look forward to reading each others. We have a little time so start thinking, start looking or start writeing down your love lines. We'll all vote on the best. HAPPY DAY
