Quick note

This bunny was Timmy's #1 choice. He's sitting on my lap at the moment and it's kinda hard to reach around him but he's interested in this blogging stuff so I'm letting him see how it's done. We just read the family bloggs and he enjoyed all the pictures .

Tim was under the weather today and slept a couple hours awhile ago so he is still up and waiting on me.

Glad to have Ruth and Sis over for a couple hours. We were having a learning experience on the computer the whole time. Son and Sis were outside soaking up the sun rays, even though Son was sick with a fever. He wouldn't miss being with Sis for anything.

Hubby went over tonight and worked on his dozer till after dark, with a flashlight, non the less. The very loose tracks were a big problem since he got it about 3 or 4 years ago, even threw them a couple times. That was a big job, getting tracks back on. Anyway, he adjusted them tonight and tightened them up. That was a surprise and a big relief that they tightened up. HE HAD THOUGHT THAT THEY WERE SO WORN FROM AGE AND USE THAT THEY WERE BEYOND help. Sorry about the big letters, I was paying no mind. The dozer is about 45 years old. He'll have it all overhauled by the time he's done. Sorry if I bored yall.

It's nearly morning, gotta shut this thing down. I've sat here for about 4 hours saving pictures to PC and learning as I go. Numb butt.

Good Evenin Folks

Packed up lunch and headed for English. Followed Daddy home from the quarry road. He had been to Todd Dicky N.H. to visit a friend. Pulled in the drive and Son said, "Mom, no one's here yet." I replied, "Well, you said you wanted to be the first one here." His reflective answer was, "OH." He was happy then. The 'nobody' he was referring to was 'S.B'. Had a good dinner. 'R' brought mashed potatoes in the crockpot, I took fried apples, deviled eggs, our frozen corn, meatloaf and a 4 layer chocolate cake. Mom made good biscuits and we ate ourselves full, over full. Son watched a movie, 'Bakers Hawk' Grandpa and Granny watched some of it with him while I cleaned up the kitchen. Mom rushed around getting ready for work and left out right after we did. Took hubby home a plate. He cut up, marinated and grilled a pork tenderloin after supper. Talk about goood! Melt in your mouth with the best flavor you ever tasted. He worked on his marinade recipe to perfection and it is out of this world goooood! Took the elderly neighbor a couple pieces and he gave me 2 quarts of his home canned tomato juice in return.

It's now 9:30 and Hubby is leaving for work again for a few hours. Son is watching Animal Planet and keeps running out here to snitch some of this good meet before it cools off. I had best put it in the frig before he OD's on it. Take care.

"BOOOOOOOOO"

Friday, March 24, 2006

Just a quick word or two. Mom called me, said she broke a tooth and had a denist appointment in 1- 1/2 hours, could I stay with Miss Bea. Got Timmy up and we sped on down the interstate at breakneck speed. She was already gone when I got there and the Son was with Miss Bea. Stayed about 3 hours then another hour after mom got back. Bad news, the two teeth have to go, by drastic measures. Ooooouch biiiiig time!
Stopped in to see daddy then to the library and Dollar Store. On home to prepare chili for supper. Did dishes, made trail mix bars, and read Timmy his story. Hun and Son are snoring and I'm fixin to, too.

Went to brother-in-laws at 9:00 am. Brothers went to courthouse to sign papers, transfer ownership of 80 acres so mom-in-law won't have taxes to pay. Mixed feelings. Now it's done, final. Now what to do? Nuff said. That was our day. Son rode a big work horse, shot bb gun, played with 4 kids, had a grand ol time while sis-in-law and I had a much needed girl talk, unloaded for 6 hours while guys were doing business. Good Night.

Back Again

It's 12:30 am and Honey's at work. He went back in at 9:30, might get back by 2:00. Sometimes they have to 'cut over' after midnight when the phones aren't so busy.

Mom and Daddy stopped in today on their way home from Corydon. Mom picked up a few things from Wal-Mart for me. I had just made a kettle of chicken noodle soup and had a 'pecan apple crunch' in the crockpot so we had some good hot soup together. Was nice to have them here for about an hour. Mom had to go back to work by 5:00 so they had to get home.

Didn't sleep worth a hoot last night. Dumb me ate a good size hand full of 60% dark chocolate chips a couple hours before bedtime, should have known better. I lay in bed, wide awake but too lazy to get up and blogg. Thought about it but that's as far as it went.

Think I'll go warm the bed up before Hubby gets home, it's 20 degrees out there, he'll appreciate a warm bed to crawl into. Nighty Night.

Sorry folks, it has just been too late at night for me to sit here and chat.

Not much to say today. Timmy wrote a thank-you note today for his birthday money, still have three more to write. The process drained us both. He wants a break between every word, can't stay focused long enough to write one word, has to streach, drop his pencil, fidget, yawn, sigh, and so on. You'll get a 'Thank-you' in time, we didn't forget.

Sat. morning I made Sarah's biscuit recipe, turned out good. My specialty is dinner rolls so I hardly ever make biscuits. Had brown flour milk gravy, eggs and my blueberry jelly. Oh, also made homemade sausage made with ground turkey, not bad.

Hubby is saying it's bed time and it's only 10:30, the night is still young. Guess a little extra sleep wouldn't hurt me any huh?

OK Ruth, what's up? Two days in a row my blogg went up in smoke. I went to PUBLISH and it said there were errors. That was the last I saw of it.
Timmy and I went to Stephenson's store, drove down to the river and ate our snack, went to the library, stopped at the recycle then pulled off at the Overlook and took a picture. Went home and shaped the roll that I left rising in the mixer bowl and set them to rise again. Helped Timmy with 2 pages of homework at the kitchen counter whose I made a pot of chili. Kenny came home about the same time the rolls came out of the oven, oh they smelled so good. Ran a panfull up to a friend in Leavenworth, back home and put the chili on and we ate. Chili and roll don't normally go together but I wanted to try this recipe made with buttermilk. Very simple and delicious. Hubby wants the computer a few minutes so I'll take my leave.

Since I just lost the whole thing I posted, I'll say good night.

BLISS

The picture quality needs help but I thought it was cute.

Made three loaves of 'honey oatmeal' bread today, kept the bread machine hot from 8:00 am till 7:00 pm when the third loaf came out. Sent one home to Ruth, gave Gerald one when he stopped in to see Kenny and saving the third one for Birtie tomorrow. They smelled really good but I didn't get to taste. I mixed a fourth one up in a jar in the frig so I can make it later.

Mom and Dad picked Timmy up and took him home with them tonight on their way back from Corydon. Ruth will keep him so I can go to the dreaded denist tomorrow. He begs every day to have a sleepover at Sarah Beths.

It's 2:00 and the dryer stopped so I'm going to wind down.

Just Rambling

Not much to write about today but best wishes to you all. I trust Mom got home safe today and that the water is down.

I'm sitting here at midnight listening to the wind blow, wondering if I should cut loose and head for the basement.

Timmy and I went to the post office then drove down to the river to check on the water. It's high and swift, lots of debris floating down stream. It's not over the bank in Old Leavenworth yet, I'm sure it will rise some more.

Fixed goooood fish for supper. Broiled it with a lemon butter sauce, good and flavorfull. A stick of butter, or less, has mixed in it,dill weed, garlic salt, parsley, lemonjuice, lemonpepper, dried minced onion, I think that's all. Mix and let sit for flavors to mingle. Spread half of butter on fish, broil 5 minutes, turn over and spread rest of butter mixture on second side. Broil another 5 or 6 minutes or till butter and onion starts to brown. Remove from oven[of course] and enjoy the full bodied flavor. I use white fish fillets. Can't be beat. Oh yes, it also has 1/4 teaspoon of sugar in it.

Beware. The ticks are OUT NOW. I found one on myself today, was still crawling, looking for a good choice spot. He took a little unscheduled trip on a oneway ticket.

Check out the forsythia, they are blooming in all their golden glory.

I guess we get out old fashioned pen and paper and write to Rachel now.

Sarah called to tell me how good the banana pancake was that I gave her yesterday. We didn't care for them, guess because they were too fresh and the oldfashioned oats in them were too hard. I didn't like the mixture of hard and soft, too hard on the teeth. Anyway, Sarah said that today, three days old, they were soft and scrumptous, tasted like banana bread. Glad she liked them. I want to try 'Ginger Bread Pancakes'. By the way, Sharon, Sarah suggested that when it's your turn for our gettogether at your house, that we have a 'Pancake, Waffle' dinner. That would suit Daddy, we could try out a couple different waffle flavors. I have a recipe for chocolate waffles I'd like to try. We could all taste your syrup, promise we won't eat too much of it. Give it some thought. I have a recipe for 'turkey sausage' made with ground turkey and spices. It might be good with waffles and eggs. Mom and I have waffle irons we could bring, you have fresh eggs and syrup. I could bring orange juice and flavored coffee. YUMMMM, YUM, YUM.

Guess I had more to say then I thought I did.

I'm sorry about living the last blog hanging, but I had a baby in my arms and it was easier to just post it than to put it somewhere then try to go back and find it later. What I was going to say is I was on my way to Mom's and they where going to leave soon so I wouldn't be able to go. I bet it would be neat to see all the new garden stuff. Sharon you will have to put some pictures on here for me to see. Wesley and his girlfriend and there baby came over (that was the baby I had in my lap) and stayed for lunch. We had mashed taters, shrimp, corn and B-BQ venison on fresh yeast rolls. It was very yummy! You might as well eat that is all you can do on a rainy day like today. Lois made some Hazelnut coffee and she has a piece of apple cake so I will have to go and sample that and see how it tastes. I copied a good sounding tea cookie recipe the other day and I would like to try it. How does a Cardamond cookie sound?
Hello everybody! I thought a bright color would be good on this dreary day. Nobody knows where I will do you? I went to Moms and looked at the water it was only 6 ft. over the bridge! So I called Lois and asked if I could pleeeeease come and do my laundry at her house. She said yes wasn't that nice and sweet of her! I started from my house at 9:00 a.m. and didn't get here till 11:00 because I kept stopping and taking pictures of the water. The bridge that crossed the White River on the way to my house the water is almost up to the bottom of the bridge and that is a big old fashion metal one. By the way they are in the process of putting in a new bridge, right beside it. It just makes a person want to cry to drive by and see all the trees they have cut on the river bank and just left them lay. When I went by this morning all the cut trees where under water and they will all be in the river stopping it up probably.
I talked to Daddy on the phone since I couldn't go see him, he said the water was up in the orchard yesterday and he walked to the field right behind the house and looked to see if his little levey held. He said he has been putting rock and gravel on the one side of the creek bank to keep the water in because it always wants to come over the side and out into that cove. It held and he was surprised. He said Janie called to check on him this morning and see if he was ok after the storm.
Sharon called me this morning and asked me if I wanted to go with them to Indy ,to the Home and Garden expo. I would have gone with them but I was

Lois, sorry to hi-jack your blog like this but I was wanting to try something out on yours. On my blog I have a frame around each picture and on yous, you don't so I wanted to try this on yours. At least I picked a pretty picture, right?

Daddies Little Valentine

Guess Who?

Yes we had some kinda wind didn't we. Our electric didn't go off but Timmy and I scrambled down stairs at one point. The house was creaking and the door would have blown open if it wasn't locked. These tall trees around the house are a concern at such times. I have gotten Timmy up in the night and carried him downstairs to sleep when the wind howls so.

We walked down in the woods again today. We could hear water running still from yesterday, so I wanted to check it out. Took my camera and got some of the same pictures I posted before but this time with water flowing. Hope they turn out, one film was a 800 speed.

The thorny wild rose bushes in the woods have little leaves on them already and Kenny saw a Star Magnolia tree in full bloom. They always come out before anything else. They have small skinny white flowers, not the regular magnolia. My crocus is blooming too. I set out the house plants today and need to go out and bring them in. I opened the door earlier to do that but the mosquito's and bugs were so bad at the door that I just shut it again and left them. It's 45 degrees now at 12:20 am. I was waiting till I shut the lights out so the bugs would go away. Kenny just came up so the lights are going out and I'm going too for a change.

Sharon and Rachel, need your links posted again on your blogg spot. I know, I'm bossy. Short and to the point.

Ruth, I forgot all about the birthday greeting for Timmy, we'll have to listen to it tomarrow.

Went yesterday to Sulfer and had dinner at the new 'Hole in the Wall.' [not it's name] A neighbor treated Timmy and I for our Birthday.

Gerald, Barb and 2 grandkids came over for supper last night. I took Bar-b-que chicken from the freezer, mashed tatters, corn and baked beans. Made fresh slaw but forgot to get it out of the frig. Had deviled eggs, leftover rolls and apple cake. They really enjoyed it. Timmy wanted to play so bad, he didn't want to eat. Oh, Jenny stopped in and had supper with us too. She brought me a nice shirt and gave Timmy a 'critter trap.' It is now baited on the back deck, hope we don't get a skunk! Good night.

Thanks

THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE NICE CARDS, WELL WISHES AND THOUGHTS.

Met Kenny tonight at 5:00 when he got off work and we took Timmy to see 'Curious George' for his birthday. We then went to O'Charley's for supper. Kenny pulled a slick one on me. Said he was going to the restroom and along the way he saw our waitress. He informed her that Timmy and I were having our birthday supper. So....in a little while, along came all the waiters and waitress's, clapping loudly and singing Happy Birthday. They presented us each with a pretty 6-inch cake apiece. That was a first.

Almost forgot. Rachel called from Florida and said I may shortly have a real live Birthday present. April called and said they were on there way to the hospital to have a little one. Jeana called and said she was already dilated over 7, so either Timmy or I should share another birthday. It's a girl but don't recall the name. I ask Rachel how to spell it and she didn't know either, so, we wait and see. Good Night, Birthday Babe.

REMINISCE

This one you've seen, 14 living children. James is second from left, David on the right, I think. Ruth was in Africa at the time and her image was added later. I think she's the one in the dark dress. Taken in 1932. That would have been the year Daddy was born. Notice grandmother's feet, prim and proper. Click on it. The little boy in the back is Uncle Earnest, the one I flew back to Pa. with to stay that month with Grandma and Grandpa in 1977. Uncle James sent this one too.

I'm going to bed, it's 1:30 and we have to get up early and go to Moms to put the counter in the back room. I'm taking lunch, lasagna, fresh rolls, apple cake decorated with dinosaurs for Timmy's birthday and some blackeye peas, for daddy and mom since they don't do lasagna. Oh, and a gal. of fresh squeezed lemon aid, chilling on the deck. Gotta bake the lasagna in the morning and shape and bake the rolls. Everyone needs this recipe, you make mix them up, set in the frig and use when needed, up to 4 days 'cause they have 3 eggs in them. Come join us. I told Mom on the phone to ask Ruth to come over after church, hope she does. See ya when you get there. Need some help putting up the boarder first thing in the morning, before the counter goes in.
