Check this out! Help from the head Honcho. We sure were glad for the extra hands.
Thought we'd never get it done, four nights of this. Bed at 1&2 o'clock. Lost track on how many times we sharpened our knives. Kept the gofer busy emptying cobs.

I went from feeling like this ugly thing looks to dancing, [almost]

Hey Hey! Thanks for pulling for me. I finally feel good enough to crawl out from under the wood pile. Rough stuff. But I will say, " I didn't have to cook, do laundry and all that stuff." That was the ONLY good part. Couldn't even keep a sip of water down, lost a couple lbs., guess that was another good thing. .Every bone in my head hurt, even to lay it on a pillow. Now, what to do about those terrible, horrible, uncomfortable, chilling, miserable, bothersome, drenching night sweats. Ug! Good to be back in the land of the living. Thanks Ruth for keeping Tim.

Good, simple, old time food, served on pewter [?] plates.
Before restoration and relocation.
Not sure of time period here.
Historic Michie Tavern- A famous tavern of the 1700's . A wealth of traditional charm clings to early American taverns. The very words create an atmosphere of candlelight, graciousness and hospitality. At historic Michie Tavern, ca. 1784, just below Jefferson's beloved Monticello [meaning Little Mountain] the pages of history are turned back more than 200 years where a striking portrayal of preRevolutionaary life may still be observed.
Michie tavern was established in 1784 by a Scotsman William Michie. The tavern served as the social center of it's community and accommodated travelers with food, drink, lodging and "good keeping of horses." This Virginia Historic Landmark was relocated to Monticello Mountain in 1927 and became a textbook example of the 1920's Preservation Movement. www.michietavern.com
We ate here on our way up the mountain to visit Monticello.

I guess the held the cannon balls, I don't know. We got to the Yorktown after datk and they were closed, for tours, that is.
Imagine the real thing after dark.
Walking back to the parking lot I saw this tree with a security light behind it.

A BIG old cedar tree on the Yorktown battlefield.
Tim and Thomas Jefferson, good friends.
The Kings Treasures, Williamsburg Va.
Lookout point, way up in the mountains.
He,s in crab heaven. Facebook.com/CaptainGeorges
We had a nice trip, perfect weather. Saw a very little bit of Williamsburg, drove through Yorktown after dark, drove through the outskirts of Jamestown and looked across the water to Jamestown Island. Needed 2 weeks, had 1 day. Revisited Thomas Jefferson's ' Monticello' and loved every minute of the history. It puts you in the mood of being there during his time.

Had this friendly feller looking in the door at me and eating cat food.

The last wind storm brought this branch crashing down. It hung directly over the house but the angels pushed it off to the side. I call that a heavenly tree trimmer. It's bigger than it looks, too heavy for me to budge. It could have come through the roof like an arrow and done some REAL damage, PTL!
It came from way up high in the tippy top.

Cliff swallow nests at the quary.
Nesting holes at top of gravel pile.
How deep they go I'll never know. I could see about 12 inches into the hole but they must have turned and went another direction.
King of the mountain. Almost dark.
Name that flower .About 3-4 in. across.
